THE HOLY EASTERN ORTHODOX CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH IN NORTH AMERICA ®
is the parent Church of The Society of Clerks Secular of Saint Basil ®. The Society was established as part of this Church in 1931 and continues as part of this Church as well as the name being a Registered Service Mark of this Church.
The Society was established by Archbishop Aftimios Ofiesh and other clergy of this Church.
In 1945 the Society was headquartered in Chicago under the leadership of Fr. Cyprian and consisted of 9 members.
Some members of the Society later left this Church with Alexander Turner and joined the
Antiochian Church but after awhile some left with Fr. Forbes, a former
Antiochian priest, and they re-established as an independent Society using
our name.
*************************************
NOTE: The individuals who joined the Antiochian Church appear to have done so individually as (former) members of the Society of Clerks Secular of St. Basil ®. The Antiochian Church did not merge with or take over this Church and our Church and corporate identity continue today.
We continue today as the Church and with the society as it was originally established. Both names are Registered Service Marks (®) of this Church (corporation).
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We continue today as the same canonically establised Church - The Holy Eastern Orthodox Catholic and Apostolic Church in North America ® (THEOCACNA), the Church that Archbishop
Aftimios was named to head in 1927 and incorporated in 1928. Being a canonically established Church the Society within this
Church is also canonically established. All others who use our name outside
of this Church are not the original order and are not the canonically
established Society.
The former members who left this Church did so contrary to the canons
without letters since we have no documents to prove otherwise.
Today the Society is headed by Metroplitan Victor who is also the National Dean.
